The spike in Coronavirus cases in the United States and government orders to keep Americans at home during the crisis is apparently having a side effect that probably everyone could see coming: alcohol sales are exploding. According to USC News, alcohol purchases rose 55% in late March. And there is evidence that marijuana purchases are also on the rise.

What should the government’s response be to Americans with time on their hands taking a deep dive into alcohol and drug abuse? The Future of Freedom Foundations’ Jacob Hornberger gives his take in our latest podcast.

With the death toll of Americans rising past the number of our soldiers who died in the Vietnam War, the Coronavirus crisis has laid bare a federal government bureaucracy and healthcare system that has proven itself incapable of rising to the challenge of handling a national pandemic.

In our latest podcast, Jacob Hornberger, president of The Future of Freedom Foundation, delivers a blistering attack on the top-down, command and control apparatus at play now and he explains why the free market is the only way out of this mess.

Turn on the TV recently and you’ll see rallies with thousands of young people screaming and cheering for proposals like Medicare for All, free college and college loan debt forgiveness. This grab bag of ideas may seem like a reflection of a new trend towards socialism in the U.S., but The Future of Freedom Foundation’s president Jacob Hornberger says this so-called “revolution” isn’t new.

Whoever said that our country’s ongoing trade wars would be a slam dunk either doesn’t run a business that relies on overseas sales or doesn’t understand the fundamentals of basic economics. Jacob Hornberger is the president of The Future of Freedom Foundation and he delivers a solid takedown of conservatives on the fallacy of ‘winning a trade war’ in his latest podcast.

The brazen U.S. military attack in early January that killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani continues a pattern that puts America on a war-footing with Iran. While conservatives across America cheered the assassination of Soleimani and seem eager for an escalation of tensions with Iran, The Future of Freedom Foundation’s president Jacob Hornberger urges caution. In his latest LibertyView podcast, Hornberger says that those who blindly support the conflict need to learn more about the complicated history between the U.S. and Iran before jumping aboard the war bandwagon.

Perhaps one of the most astonishing aspects of the Trump era has been his rock-solid base of support from self-identifying conservatives who don’t resemble the historical standard of what we know about conservatism.

It appears that President Trump’s supporters aren’t concerned about America’s record budget deficits or ballooning national debt. And they don’t seem to care about promoting free trade. For this new generation of conservatives, all that matters is that Trump is the leader of the Republican Party and they are loyal members of his tribe.

In our latest podcast, Bart Frazier, vice president of The Future of Freedom Foundation, provides a libertarian perspective on the bizarre “conservative” metamorphosis we are witnessing under the cult of President Trump.

There will be candy for everyone and white unicorns dancing in the streets. That seems to be the gist behind many of the policy proposals we are hearing today in America.
